Got an e-mail from TexaZ last night - CanZer

Got an e-mail last night from Texas. It was from one of my former colleagues/co-workers and friends down there. I had not heard anything from him in a long time (apart from the regular Christmas cards), and not seen him since a quick dinner with him and his wife Cassy in early February of 2005.

Mail was brief, but it pointed to a web site, CaringBridge. I spent the next hour or so reading through it and all postings.

Turns out one of Cassy had been diagnosed with breast cancer, on both sides. Heartbreaking news to say the least!

I remember Cassy so well when in the spring (?) of 1995, I was one of many who interviewed her for a position as a consulting engineer for our climate control solution, "TeleCool". Since Lennart (our resident cooling guru) was in Sweden at this time, he did not get to have a say in the "hiring" and Cassy never got a chance to meet one of the guys she was to be working closely with. Cassy was subsequently hired on a consulting basis for one year, and it was not "that" long before one could notice that she and Lennart had an eye for more than just their respective climate control "skills". Long story short, in the spring of 2007, they were married in Sweden!

Well Cassy, assuming that you get some time to read this, we can only hope for your best. We know you're strong and that your sheer will get you through this ordeal. Not saying that it'll be a walk in the park, but we are confident that you'll pull through.

You have great friends in and around Texas, a wonderful family, and a good support network. Up here in the north, you know our thoughts are with you and your family. We hope for quick procedures (whatever they decide to do) and that followed by speedy recovery!
